The first attempt
This was the very first shoot I tried in this kind of style, I had been wanting to photograph in this style before but had either never set the time aside or just never gone for it. I decided to give Catie a call whom I have been good friends with for some time now and see what she thought of the idea. We caught up for coffee that day and she was instantly interested.
I’m extremely grateful for Catie putting herself on the line, having never seen any photography like this from me before she really was going out on a limb. We shot in 2 locations this day, starting at the place she woke up and finishing in the harsh mid-day sunlight down the beach. It was a conscious choice to shoot in the direct sunlight. I understood how difficult it could be to shoot in this lighting, however I wanted to put myself into a place of discomfort and hope instincts would prevail.
